Woods Rose Market opened in the Spring of 2015 under the ownership of Kris Fitzgerald. Kris hails from the great northeast where she spent her youth and early adulthood. She studied Plant & Soil Science at the University of Vermont and has spent her years since focusing her passion and attention on sustainable food systems.


Much of this experience came from spending her college and post-college years working in the fields of a large organic vegetable farm. This is where she learned, and fell in love with, the connection of not only seed-to plant-to
but also the connection of farmer- to plate,
store-to consumer. 


In 2009, with equal parts luck and sense of adventure, she found Livingston, Montana and rarely looks back. In an effort to put her own roots down, while at the same time, providing the community with high quality, local products, she took a leap of faith and started the business. Years have passed, and many lessons later, Woods Rose Market is becoming an integral part of the community and the greater local foods movement.
